History of GlitchCon
In late 2012, our organization entered into a discussion about the event demographic in the Midwest region – specifically the low amount of gaming focused conferences and festivals that offer an opportunity to not only play video games but also explore the creative process behind making games.
Well, we figured that it was time for action and in 2014 we launched GLITCH CONNECT, our very own festival. GlitchCon is a weekend-long event filled with workshops, panels, tournaments, plus numerous opportunities for personal and professional growth for members within the community.
GlitchCon 2014 was a huge success, welcoming over 600 attendees and 8 special guests visiting from Blizzard Entertainment, Riot Games, Bethesda, Valve, and numerous independent developers. We’re excited to bring GlitchCon back in 2017, and are working hard to make it even bigger and better.

About GLITCH
GLITCH promotes the exploration of digital games as a culture, career, and creative practice. GLITCH works to educate, inspire, and equip emerging makers with the tools for success in the emerging digital game and simulation fields.
Our organization supports emerging creators, makers, thinkers, and doers of new work in digital games, and:
- whose developing voices reveal significant potential
- who have some evidence of achievement but not a substantial record of accomplishment
- who take risks and embrace challenges in their approach to creation, production, & promotion
Within a few short years, GLITCH has grown to serve over 3,000 people in Minnesota who participate in a series of workshops, events, and programs that our organization provides.
